Bout of Books Read-a-thon 9.0 Wrap Up

Bout of Books
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 9.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

2013 Thankfully Reading Weekend Wrap-Up Post

Update:  I didn’t do too bad for this.  I forgot to post my goals the other day, but oh well.  I made it through 2 books and 1 graphic novel.  I am partially through 3 other books as well.  My son had my Kindle for a little awhile so that’s why I started another book.

This was hosted at Jenn’s Bookshelves.

My (Tentative) List To Choose From:

  1. The Last Boyfriend (Inn Boonsboro #2) by Nora Roberts
  2. Frankenstein: Prodigal Son by Dean Koontz
  3. Silent City by Alex Segura (started today – 10%)
  4. Something Borrowed, Someone Dead by M. C. Beaton – (22% done)
  5. The Longings of Wayward Girls by Karen Brown (17% – I really need to finish this) (made it to 26%)
  6. The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
  7. Hard to Handle by Jessica Lemmon
  8. The Perfect Hope by Nora Roberts (15% done)

2013 Thankfully Reading Weekend Kick-Off!

I found this through Tif Talks Books, one of the blogs I follow.  It’s hosted by Jenn’s Bookshelves.  I thought this would be the perfect ending to November and the NetGalley November Challenge.  I’m starting a day late , but I didn’t get much reading done on Thanksgiving anyway.  The kids and I went to my mom’s and enjoyed dinner with (most) of my family.  Then we took a nap before coming home.  All of the food was delicious and I ate way too much, but everybody had a good time.  Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

I did finish a book today so I’m counting it for this.

My (Tentative) List:

  1. The Last Boyfriend (Inn Boonsboro #2) by Nora Roberts
  2. Frankenstein: Prodigal Son by Dean Koontz
  3. Silent City by Alex Segura (started today – 10%)
  4. Something Borrowed, Someone Dead by M. C. Beaton
  5. The Longings of Wayward Girls by Karen Brown (17% – I really need to finish this)
  6. The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
  7. Hard to Handle by Jessica Lemmon

Dewey’s 24 Hour Read-a-thon- Ends

dewey

  1. Which hour was most daunting for you?  The 16th and the 20th.  I tried to take a nap around the 14th and couldn’t, but then was sooo tired at the 16th.  I kept going, and after awhile got a second wind.  At least, until the 20th hour and then I was done.
  2. Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a Reader engaged for next year?  The Private Series by Kate Brian.  It’s YA and suspenseful.  I read half of the Dead Is series by Marlene Perez.  It’s a cute series with some humor and suspense.
  3. Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the Read-a-thon next year?  This is my first year participating and I think everyone did an awesome job.
  4. What do you think worked really well in this year’s Read-a-thon?  I love the fact that so many people in the book blogging community join together and read all over the world.  I think everything worked really well.
  5. How many books did you read?  6.  I made my personal goal, even though they were shorter books.  And my GoodReads challenge is now only 2% behind.  Yay!  🙂
  6. What were the names of the books you read?  Dead Is the New Black #1, Dead Is A State of Mind #2, Dead is So Last Year #3 all by Marlene Perez, That Summer by Sarah Dessen, The Raft by S. A. Bodeen, and Vengeance #14 by Kate Brian
  7. Which book did you enjoy most?  all of them
  8. Which did you enjoy least?
  9. If you were a Cheerleader, do you have any advice for next year’s Cheerleaders?
  10. How likely are you to participate in the Read-a-thon again? What role would you be likely to take next time?  I am planning on being a reader in the next one also.  After talking to my mom and my daughters, and possibly my sister, they would like to join in also, so should be fun.

I read for 10 hours and 45 minutes.  I finished 6 books and read 1,241 pages.  I had 1 DNF and 1 audio book, but did not finish it.  I participated in 5 mini-challenges and commented & added several blogs.
